"New teaching and learning spaces at Duke" (CIT Showcase 2008 Presentation)
In Fall 2008, the Duke Teaching and Learning Center ("The Link") is scheduled to open in the Perkins Library Lower Level. The Link will offer a dynamic space to support student and faculty learning, teaching, and collaboration. Technology-enhanced classrooms and group study spaces have been particularly designed to accomodate collaborative work and project-based learning activities. All classrooms will offer furniture that can be easily configured into flexible seating arrangements as well as a standard set of presentation technologies (such as LCD projectors and flat panel displays). Classroom, seminars, and break-out rooms within The Link are designed to encourage pedagogical experimentation with existing and emerging technologies.

A centrally located Help Desk will be equipped to provide support for routine and high-end classroom technologies and will offer equipment loans to support the use of student response systems, tablet PCs, and other mobile interactive technologies. Classes will be scheduled in these new spaces beginning in the Fall 2008 semester (see a preliminary list of Fall 2008 classes).
