Overview
CIT's Blackboard Office Visit Program provides individualized in-office training sessions to Duke faculty, instructors and teaching assistants on a variety of Blackboard features. These visits generally last about one hour, and are carried out by well-trained student assistants and/or professional consultants.
Topics Covered
Some of the most popular topics requested include, but are not limited to:
- Bb site quick start: Setting up your new course, making the course available, configuring the course menu and updating/adding announcements.
- Exploring / discovering Bb features: An overview of content upload, discussion board, online testing and surveys, blog and wiki tools, assignments, groups, and gradebook.
- Adding and organizing basic content: How to create a syllabus, enter faculty information, create folders, add documents and other content, while organizing materials for ease of student use.
- Adding and organizing multimedia content: How to add streaming audio and video links to Bb, connect to Lectopia, and upload media or images directly to Bb.
- Creating, submitting, and viewing assignments: How to create an assignment and view and grade student submissions via the online gradebook. Also see assignment submission from a student point of view.
- Manage the online gradebook: Includes creating gradebook items, entering grades easily into the gradebook, Bb weighting, exporting grade items, and exporting grades from Bb to PeopleSoft/STORM.
