E-Portfolios
An electronic teaching portfolio, such as the one developed in the course GS 301, will demonstrate your understanding of effective uses of instructional technology. Using an html editor such as Dreamweaver you will be creating a product that will be very useful when you begin your job search.
A teaching with technology statement is the heart of this portfolio, and it should adress these questions:
1. What do you teach, and what are the objectives of your course?
2. How do your students learn?
3. What is your role as an instructor/what is your relationship to students?
4. Given the above, what do you do to facilitate learning? How does technology fit?
To support this statement, you should provide concrete examples and link to evidence to support claims made in statement. The materials you develop for support here might include the following:
- Current CV
- Syllabi
- Presentation materials
- Screen captures from Blackboard
- Links to other online resources (e.g., course-specific sites, online articles, online study guides, lecture notes, data sets, etc.)
- Samples of work/writing
- Descriptions of research projects
- Video of teaching
All skills necessary for portfolio development are addressed in GS 301, and all necessary software is available in public spaces on campus. Additionally, individual consultation for portfolio development is available in the Center for Instructional Technology.
