(c)opyright FAQ: A forum for faculty on copyright in the classroom (Tues. 10/24/2006, 3- 4 pm)
http://cit.duke.edu/events/event.do?eventid=382&occurid=860
Digital technology is everywhere in today’s classroom and in the cyber-realm that surrounds classroom education. As more digital resources are created and employed for instruction, new copyright questions, and new versions of old questions, confront faculty. How do I know what is protected by copyright and what is not? When is something in the public domain? Does the format matter for copyright? How is an image or a piece of music different from text? What does the TEACH Act allow me to do? How does Fair Use help me in the classroom? When is a use a fair use?
Registration is encouraged but not required.

Sony has just released a new ebook reader that uses an advanced display technology. The reader allows you to view ebooks purchased from Sony's online store or converted from PDF format and RSS feeds. The device, about the size of a paperback book, has a monochrome display that mimics the look of printed pages. It can also play MP3 and AAC audio files.
