Overview
CIT's iPod Office Visit program provides individualized training to Duke faculty, instructors and teaching asssistants who are using iPod devices in teaching and learning, as well as to information technology and other support staff who work with this group.
In the office visit, CIT staff and or student assistants provide a one hour training session in your office to answer general questions about iPod use for courses. Questions that require more in-depth assistance will be referred to other CIT consulting or training options, as appropriate.
Topics covered
Our program is set up to provide training in the following areas. Each area requires approximately 30 minutes for training. When you request a visit, please indicate the areas you wish to focus on.
- iPod basics: basic operation of the iPod, formatting & synchronization
- Using iTunes: software setup, iPod connection & synchronization, setting preferences
- Audio recording using the iPod: using the microphone attachment, recording, transferring voice memos
- Classroom display of iPod content: settings, connections, playing media
- Using photos with the iPod: iTunes preferences, additional software, hard drive storage of photos
- Using video with the iPod: compatible formats, iTunes conversion, classroom display
Before you request an office visit
The iPod office visit requires the use of the iTunes software from Apple. We will ask you to make sure this program is available on your computer prior to confirming your appointment; you may need to request assistance from your local IT support staff person to get iTunes installed.
