Severe Weather Policy

Here's how our language lab coverage works in the event of severe weather. Our decision depends on the Duke Severe Weather policy, which is officially announced at emergency.duke.edu. Conditions permitting, we will update the lab calendar on our Web site to let our patrons know whether or not the language labs will be open. We will also attempt to notify instructors (by e-mail sent to their Duke account) who have reservations on days when there is severe weather.

Yes, in most cases the labs will be open on a normal schedule, unless there are concerns for staff safety or if the N.C. Governor's office has declared a state of emergency. |

No*. Full-time language lab staff are in the "delayed" category for severe weather, so the labs will be closed for the portion of the day during which the severe weather policy is in effect. We will post information about lab availability on our Web site. *If the severe weather policy is implemented for only a portion of the day, the labs will be closed for that portion only. |
