Through this program CIT can digitize small portions of certain course materials such as audio, video or images for faculty. All materials development requests are subject to a copyright review.
Who can request support
Full time Duke faculty and instructors
Support provided to approved projects
- CIT project management of materials creation process
- CIT student assistant time to digitize materials
- Training on materials production processes & multimedia equipment, as appropriate for the project (for large projects we may train faculty or their designees to do the digitization)
- Scheduled use of CIT lab equipment as needed
Program requirements
Each application will undergo a review process, which may take up to one business week. During this phase, the faculty member will be asked to:

- provide clear information about what is to be digitized, by timecode, title, description, etc. (and complete a digitizing/production list, using a template provided by CIT, if requested)
- provide answers to other questions as needed
If the request is approved, the faculty member will be expected to do the following during the materials production process:
- provide releases for any student work or original recordings made of guest speakers, interviewees, etc.
- review draft versions of materials produced and “sign off” of them before final versions are created
- provide answers to other questions as needed to complete project
- complete CIT evaluation
Application deadlines
Applications can be submitted anytime, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis; application reviews can take up to 1 business week. If a request is accepted, work will be scheduled depending on our existing production calendar and CIT student worker availability. CIT can not guarantee a particular start time for materials production work, but in general, the longer the lead-time on applications, the better.
