Lerman The OpenCourseWare
Project at MIT Professor Steven R. Lerman chairs the Interim Management Board of the MIT OpenCourseWare initiative. Lerman holds the Class of 1922 Distinguished Professorship of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he specializes in multimedia educational software, computer applications in education, and transportation system analysis. Professor Lerman is also the Director of the Center for Educational Computing Initiatives, the research unit of an MIT-wide research center devoted to studying the application of computational and communication technologies on education. Lerman served as the Chair of the MIT Faculty from 1998 - 2001 and as the Associate Chair of the Faculty from 1996 - 1998. He directed M.I.T.'s Project Athena, a campus-wide distributed system of advanced computer workstations. In addition, he has been a Visiting Foreign Professor in the MBA in International Business Program at Gabriela Mistral University in Sanitago, Chile since 1993.
