Title: Personal Response Systems
Description: Demonstration of how faculty can use Personal Response Systems in large lecture halls to change the dynamics of the class. Demonstration focuses on use of polling techniques for creating a more active learning environment in small and large classrooms. When students are given response feedback immediately following the presentation of a
question by the instructor, they are much more interested in further discussion on the topic. In addition, 'peer instruction' techniques can be used to have students work together to conceptual models of core principles.

Title: The Divinity School
Description: The Divinity School has several multi-media rooms that enable faculty to project from a PC, VCR, DVD or CD player for their classes. The main classroom accomodates about 100 students, and has a Crestron control system. Using this system, presenters can control all the technology in the classroom from a central podium. Drop by to see this system and try it out.

Description: The Duke University Human Simulation and Patient Safety Center is a multidisciplinary collaboration between the School of Nursing, Department of Anesthesiology, and the School of Medicine at Duke University. The tour of the HSPSC will include hands-on demonstrations of our high- fidelity human patient simulators, virtual reality task trainers, and the audiovisual capabilities of our cutting edge "debrief room".

Title: Opening the Classroom Doors: Classroom Tech, Media Lab and Student Support at Duke Law
Description: We will demonstrate the technology available in our most advanced classrooms and the media lab, and discuss the specific and sometimes unexpected ways that the technology allows us to "open the classroom door" to new forms of interaction. We will also discuss our model of student support, given our laptop requirement for students and the heavily wired (and wireless) environment at the law school.

Title: Geospatial Technologies in the classroom, in the field and on the Web
Description: Geospatial Technologies (Geographic Information Systems [GIS], satellite remote sensing, field surveying and Global Positioning Systems [GPS]) are a suite of technologies that support fundamental analyses across the majority of environmental management and earth science disciplines. At the Nicholas School we have a rapidly growing demand for instruction in geospatial technologies for undergraduate, professional and doctoral level curricula, as well as a need to support new disciplinary research conducted using these technologies. We will demonstrate applications of geospatial technologies on workstations in a computing lab, with field based GIS using PDA’s and GPS systems and shared digital data libraries using Internet Map Server Technologies (IMS).

Description: The 3D Visualization Facility located in the Levine Science Research Center offers University and Medical Center instructors the ability to present information to students in 3D Stereo on a large projection screen system. Your three dimensional graphics or data will appear to have actual depth, adding value to any instruction where the demonstration of spatial relationships and 3D structure is important. The facility space can accommodate 16 - 20 students; technical support is available to help construct applicable visuals for your instruction.
