Pedagogy Before Technology: Exploring and Applying Tomorrow’s Technology with Today’s Students

Web 2.0 tools such as Flickr, Twitter and Facebook, and virtual worlds such as Second Life, offer powerful teaching and learning opportunities by integrating participatory, social, and immersive media for student-centered learning. Sarah Robbins will speak about her years of experience integrating such tools into her teaching of writing and composition, and how these tools can support effective teaching and promote engaged learning in today’s students.

Presenter bio
Sarah “Intellagirl” Robbins is a PhD candidate at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She is also the Director of Emerging Technologies for Media Sauce and a higher education consultant helping colleges and universities integrate Web 2.0 technologies meaningfully into pedagogy. She is the coauthor of “Second Life for Dummies.” Her research has been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
