The CIT is now accepting applications for Lecture Less, Guide More: Flipping the Classroom Faculty Fellowship 2013-2014.
Have you “flipped” your classroom? Would you like to try more active learning techniques in your classroom? Want to talk with other faculty about what they do in their classrooms? In the flipped classroom, students are exposed to the basic course content before they come to class, then actively work with the material during the class, to achieve deeper learning.
The purpose of this fellowship is to share faculty experiences using active learning techniques to achieve greater student learning, and to implement new techniques in your classroom. If you are already flipping your classroom or if you want to try, please join us to talk about what works, to try new methods in your course and to visit each others classrooms. You must be teaching a course in either the fall of 2013 or spring of 2014 and be willing to participate in classroom visits with other faculty.
Applications are due September 10, 2013 by 5:00 pm.
Randy A. Riddle consults with faculty in the Humanities and Social Sciences on integrating technology into teaching. He has been a CIT consultant since 2000. His professional interests include e-learning, social networking, online productivity tools, video and multimedia, and visualization. Randy's current work includes management of the CIT's Faculty Fellows program, consulting on Coursera course design and exploring areas such as e-textbook authoring. His other interests outside of work include restoration of vintage recording formats and broadcasting and film history. He volunteers for the Old Time Radio Researchers Group and maintains an ongoing blog on radio history research.
