MPS: New Office Hours

The Multimedia Project Studio, with locations on West and East campus is open for faculty, staff and students to work on creative projects for teaching and learning.MPS Lobby

Chip Bobbert from OIT will be available for MPS Office Hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-5pm in MPS West (Bostock Library Lower Level, near the Link). All Duke faculty are welcome to stop by and learn about the MPS facilities and get advice on creating multimedia projects.

While multimedia content isn’t always necessary to flip your classroom, the MPS is a great place to record engaging video and audio tutorials if you do decide to create them for your class.

Duke faculty such as Mohamed Noor and Roger Barr have found the MPS West studio to be a valuable resource for creating teaching materials with quality audio and video. Len White used the space to film video conference sessions for his Medical Neuroscience course. The space is outfitted with HD cameras, USB microphones, and other special technology equipment such as Wacom drawing tablets. The rooms are quiet and carefully designed for recording and videoconferencing purposes. All of the software you need to get started is installed and ready for you to use.

The MPS West Makerspace has also become a popular place for Duke Community members to explore 3d Printing, with many students printing pieces for their projects such as the Innovation Co-Lab’s 3d Printing Challenge.

The space is now available for drop-in anytime, though priority is given to those who reserve the space in advance.

Student consultants are available during regularly scheduled hours to help set up any special equipment.
