Exchange teaching ideas with TeachX

Visiting the classrooms of other faculty, and observing their teaching styles and in-class activities, is a great way to get new ideas for one’s own teaching. But finding classrooms to visit, particularly in other disciplines, can be challenging. TeachX is designed to help, by creating a “classroom exchange” where faculty hosts can easily open their classrooms to visitors.

Faculty hosts and visitors come from across the university, enabling intra- and inter-school sharing of pedagogical practices. Class settings range from seminars, to hybrid-flipped case studies, to Bass Connections teams, to large lectures. Last year, in the first TeachX, 118 undergraduate, graduate, and professional classes were opened to visitors who ranged from the most experienced to the newest faculty member, all curious and open to fresh perspectives. This year, we hope TeachX will be even bigger and positively impact even more faculty.

Now through September 26, faculty members interested in hosting can list the classes in which visitors would be welcome during the week of November 6, using a simple online form at the TeachX website. Starting September 27, visitors who are interested in attending classes can visit the site to browse the catalogue and register for the class or classes they would like to attend.

We encourage you to consider being a host and/or a visitor during TeachX, to facilitate the exchange of teaching ideas and practices, and to break down walls between Duke classrooms and disciplines.
